Between my flight school (UH-1A, B and D) (at Rucker) Vietnam and my 7 years at Bell Helicopter as an acceptance test pilot I flew every one of those craft except the yhu-1 RH-1 and the UH-1L. The Navy SAR birds left the factory painted red. I was told they were for Antarctica. Some I flew new and others when they came in for rebuild. The hardest to handle were the Air force UH-1 F because they had a manual throttle and an EGT Gage as big as a saucer so you did not over temp the engine. The most special was the Presidents UH-1 N's because of who it was sent to. I also flew the UH-1N modified for the Queen of Thailand that was so armored it was a flying tank. Also the UH-1N for the king of Morocco. It had real gold. A gold seat for the king and a sliding panel between the cockpit and cargo compartment like a limo with a phone between the cockpit and the kings seat. Lot's of memories on that list Tom. I had forgotten most of them.
