I just talked to my buddy Audie stern (who spent 5 and a half years as an Army pilot at Bell and over 20 years on the Bell Test pilot staff). I told him what I just published here and asked if he remembered the incident. He laughed and said yes.He also stated he remembered the colonel saying it was Lady bird (or her staff) that called the pentagon and their calls beat me back to base.. LOL Like I said.. I had a brush or two with history.. mostly by accident and fumble.
