Ok, found the problem.
The version of bulletin board that we have on the site (WebBBS 5.12) stopped being updated by the developer in 2002. At that point in time, the last version available (5.12) had WebBBS cookies coded to expire on 12/31/2010 at 23:59:59. So in short, Happy New Year, your cookies have all expired !
I have a couple of options but I can't do them here. I will have to dig into this a little deeper tonight.
1). If I can find all of the entries in the scripting for the expiration of the cookies, I might be able to change them to a new date. This would probably be the easiest and quickest fix.
2). There is a newer version of this BB software called Tetra (another developer took over the old code and produced a newer version) that I could upgrade to. I don't know what hurdles this would require so I would have to investigate this further.
3). I could update the board to another bulletin board software and import all of our messages. This would be a lot of work and time consuming. However, I need to think about pulling everything in the site together anyway so we have one package with one login and password.
Bottom line for now (until I get this fixed), you will have to continue to input all of your information when you post a message. As well, all of the messages are going to appear as "NEW" and the sorting may default to a type other than what you have been using.
Give me a couple of days, I'll get us back up and running. Honestly, I am surprised we have made it this far with so few problems. Most software needs constant attention and this stuff has just kept chugging along with only a little intervention now and then.
If you have examples of other bulletin boards etc that you would like me to consider while I review everything, let me know what they are and I will take a look.
