When I was helping design the Chelton system I provided a concept for a remote control helicopter that uses simple commands ( altitude, LZ location etc). It had full autopilot and a complete map and GPS system in it's "brain". All the ground guy had to do was make sure it had about 50 meters of semi-level space and barriers no taller than 60 feet and provide the LZ coordinates to the craft.Enroute itwould figure winds etc. It could find the LZ, land using the GPS and LADAR, and the AHARS would keep it stable. If it sensed more than 10 deg. off level onlanding, it would hover for about 5 mins. then go back to base unless the guy on the ground shut it down. That was 10 years ago.
