Re: Yellow Flight Bird at "875" ??

I was on 522 with Jr. Mason as door gunner on the 23rd of Nov., '67. Just as we were eight or ten feet above the ground, we took a round that disabled our tail rotor and we began spinning, throwing off the 173rd Sky Soldiers we were trying to insert. We hit the ground hard but softly enough that we weren't hurt. To make a long story short, we had pinned about three of our passengers to the ground with our skids. Jr. picked the ship up and we spun to the edge of the LZ up against some trees. I've been told that's not possible but Jr. did it. I've never been able to get in touch with anyone in the 173rd who was there or heard about the incident so I don't know if those guys survived or not.
