I will miss Bob a lot, we have had at least one and sometimes two yearly reunions during my training in Ft. Worth for the last 15 years, just wanted to let you all know he thought a lot of this forum and it's members. He brought me up to speed on you whenever we got together or in phone calls. Lump, Tom and Bob were mentioned at most of our get togethers. Taylor and I went through flight school together including the first month as snowbirds for class 66-17, then we did the first 6 months together at the 119th sharing the same cubical in the hooch.
Although he was a maintenance officer and it wasn't required, he did fly as much as possible with us in order to gain flight time to reach his goal to become a test pilot at Bell. Since he was an old timer to us, hell he was 27 when in flight school, he used his experience to help and guide us through the challenges we faced. He was a genius in the work he did while at Bell.
I am real glad he and I had a very good night at the Mexican restaurant when he finished his first rounds of chemo and thought he'd beaten the cancer. this is last time I saw him, but talked many times as his disease progressed. He faced the end quite bravely but still fighting.
