I am Bob Taylor's Son Jayme. I have had the pleasure of meeting some of you, (Alan Lambert, etc.), but not all.

My brother Bryan and I have been collecting dad's memorabilia from the 119th (First Tour), the 101st (Second Tour), and his time in Army Aviation Systems Command (Test Flying at Bell.)

Reading the posts on this site and guest book entries you all put out there brought tears to my eyes today even over two months later. Thank you all for the kind words about Bob and thank you all for your service to our country.

Thank you all for the freedom you provided my family, my daughter, my son, my friends, and me.

The military did a good job on his service. There is a video out on you tube of the internment. (Forgive the video, a family friend took it on an iPhone and all things considered, it was pretty good. He was such a good friend he was crying too and there was a little shakiness.)

When I was a child my father did not talk much about Vietnam. I want you all to know that in my adult life that talking about his time in the 119th (5th maintenance) brought more tears (both of laughter and sadness), laughter, and peace than anything else in his life.

You all know he could be terse... Believe me, I know it too. With that, he loved you all so much, and I know that with the same level of surety that I know my children love me and I love them.

As a final thought, for so long I felt my father had missed out not having a brother growing up as I did. The funny thing is, he had tens of thousands of brothers and many of them closer and with greater shared experience than me and my own brother. Believe me, that is saying something.
