But he assumed command of the 81st Transportation Company (Light Helicopter) from Major George Aldridge, Jr. on 18 March 1963 and was Commanding Officer of the 81st until 14 June 1963, when the company was inactivated. He then assumed command of the newly-activated 119th Aviation Company until 4 September 1963, when he turned that command over to Major Donald Smith.
